Good-Bye Blue Monday Loves The Nightrats

The Nightrats played during St. Patrick’s Day at Good-Bye Blue Monday in Brooklyn. From the moment the band walked in, it was obvious this venue was made for them.

Steve, the owner of GBM, noticed and invited the band to play the venue again, in their outdoor space during hot summer nights. We can’t wait!

The Nightrats made a new friend that night. To find out who that might be, come by National Underground tonight at 9PM.

The Nightrats LIVE
9 PM at The National Underground
159 E Houston

Here are some of the reasons you should go:

1. Find out who is this mysterious new friend?!

2. Get FREE Nightrat collectibles with admission!!!

3. It’s Friday night.

4. It’s the first nice day of Spring 2009.

5. Beautiful, talented people are coming to see the show. One of them is from Copenhagen.

6. One Tree Hill fans, we hear that National Underground is owned by Gavin DeGraw who sings the opening theme song in the show.

7. Most importantly you love the Nightrats and want to be featured saying how much you love them in our next blog.

Thank You to all that came out on a cold St. Patrick’s Day to the heart of Brooklyn. Most notably, lovely Barb McMillen, generous Bill McMillen who made sure we were fed and had enough wine during the show, beautiful redhead Kathryn, Mr. Neil, Erin and her bicycle, stylish Bretney & Allison, our old friend Chris F. and his Fringe lady Chantal.

And thank you Steve for your imagination and for giving the Nightrats a new home at Good-Bye Blue Monday.

Together we are Mischief’s Nest!

I was at this particular venue. A mish-mash of things we threw out of our basement years ago… and not the stuff you regret later throwing away as some form of “retro” becomes “now.” However, the quirky collection gave for a moody and colorful backdrop. Its rather like being caught in the neon spotlights of one of those tourist boats drifting down the Siene. Then the boat passes and there you are. Darkness and You. Sitting outside some little cafe with your smooth dark coffee and somewhere a brandy chaser or vice versa. And if you were smoking it would have to be an equally smooth cigar. This was one smooth band. An integrated sound. Professional in its collectedness. It was worth the trip to Brooklyn– and that’s saying something.

The Nightrats have a sound dark like good coffee laced with bourbon and a live vibe that belongs in muted neon nights.

The Nightrats and Lá Fhéile Pádraig

St. Patrick’s Day is an annual feast day which celebrates Saint Patrick, one of the patron saints of Ireland, and is generally celebrated on March 17. Normally people celebrate with corn beef and wearing green.

The change to Ireland’s association with green rather than blue probably began around the 1750’s and lasted until March 17, 2009.

This year for good-luck everyone is going to see the Nightrats play at Good-Bye Blue Monday in Brooklyn.

The show is FREE!

Some people will wear green, some blue, but most will drink, and all will sing along with the Nightrats at 9PM.
